Bored 🥱
❖
Feeling bored is a quiet feeling — when the heart feels empty, time feels heavy, and motivation fades. In Islam, moments like these are reminders to return to remembrance, renew intention, and protect ourselves from laziness and heedlessness. Even simple dhikr can turn emptiness into light.
#1
Dua for Protection from Laziness
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ
Transliteration
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina al-ʿajzi wal-kasal.
Translation
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness.
📖 Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī & Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim — regularly made by the Prophet ﷺ
The Prophet ﷺ said this Dua regularly — treating laziness as something to actively seek refuge from. Boredom left unchecked becomes a door to heedlessness; this Dua closes it.

Dua Seeking Refuge from a Neglectful Heart
Transliteration
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min qalbin lā yakhshaʿ, wa min nafsin lā tashbaʿ, wa min ʿilmin lā yanfaʿ, wa min duʿā'in lā yusmaʿ.
Translation
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not humble itself, a soul that is never satisfied, knowledge that does not benefit, and a supplication that is not answered.
📖 Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2722
Boredom often comes from a heart grown distant — not feeling, not reflecting, not connecting. This Dua is a diagnosis and a cure in one, asking Allah to protect the heart from its own emptiness.

📖 Qur'anic Reminder About Purpose
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا
Afaḥasibtum annamā khalaqnākum ʿabathā?
"Did you think that We created you without purpose?"
