I Am Feeling Envious — Duas & Dhikr | PureDua
Envious 🖤

Sometimes you see others blessed with something you wish you had — success, beauty, wealth, peace — and your heart feels tight. Envy can quietly disturb sincerity and gratitude. In those moments, remember: Allah distributes provisions with perfect wisdom, and what is written for you will never miss you.

Dua for Protection from Envy (Qur'anic)
Transliteration
Rabbi innī aʿūdhu bika min hamazāti ash-shayāṭīn. Wa aʿūdhu bika Rabbi an yaḥḍurūn.
Translation
My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.
📖 Surah Al-Mu'minūn 23:97–98
Feeling envious is often fueled by whispers. Seeking refuge protects the heart from spiritual corruption.

Dua for Contentment
Transliteration
Allāhumma iqsim lanā min khashyatikā mā yaḥūlu baynanā wa bayna maʿāṣīk, wa min ṭāʿatika mā tuballighunā bihi jannatak, wa mina al-yaqīni mā tuhawwinu bihi ʿalaynā maṣā'ib ad-dunyā…
Translation
O Allah, grant us a portion of Your fear that prevents us from disobeying You, a portion of Your obedience that leads us to Your Paradise, and a portion of certainty (yaqīn) that makes the trials of this world easy for us...
📖 Reported by At-Tirmidhī (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ)
This dua asks Allah for inner strength and certainty — the cure for feeling envious is yaqīn and gratitude.

Dua for a Pure & Sound Heart
Transliteration
Rabbanā lā tajʿal fī qulūbinā ghillan lilladhīna āmanū, Rabbanā innaka ra'ūfun raḥīm.
Translation
Our Lord, do not place in our hearts any resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.
📖 Surah Al-Hashr 59:10
One of the most powerful Qur'anic cures for envy — it directly asks Allah to remove ghill (resentment, hidden jealousy) from the heart and replace it with mercy and purity.

📿 Dhikr to Purify the Heart
Transliteration
Allāhumma bārik lahu fīh.
Translation
O Allah, bless it for him.
The Prophet ﷺ taught to say this when admiring something — instead of envying, ask Allah to bless others. It softens the heart and removes hidden jealousy.

📖 Qur'anic Reminder About Envy
Am yaḥsudūna an-nāsa ʿalā mā ātāhumullāhu min faḍlih.
"Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them of His bounty?"
📖 Surah An-Nisā' 4:54
Allah reminds us that blessings are from Him alone. When we trust His wisdom, envy turns into peace.

Final Reflection

Envy shrinks the heart — gratitude expands it. What Allah gave others does not reduce what He has written for you. Ask Him for your portion, and trust His perfect timing.
