Prophet Lut
The Prophet Who Stood Alone in a Corrupt Land
Lut عليه السلام was a Prophet sent to the people of Sodom — a civilization that had plunged into moral corruption so severe that Allah's punishment came not from water, as with Nuh, but from the earth itself being turned upside down and rained upon with stones of baked clay.
He was the nephew of Ibrahim عليه السلام and believed in him from the earliest days. Allah sent him to a people who committed sins that were unprecedented in human history, and he called them relentlessly to righteousness, warning them of Allah's punishment. He was a lone voice of truth in a land that had collectively abandoned all moral boundary.
His story carries one of the most powerful lessons in the Quran: that a believer must never compromise on truth no matter how isolated they feel, and that Allah's help always arrives — even when it seems impossibly late. When the angels came as guests to his home and the people of Sodom surrounded his door, Lut had no power to stop them. Yet by dawn, the city was destroyed and Lut and the believers were led safely away. His cry to Allah in his most desperate moment is one of the most moving supplications in the Quran.
