Prophet Yusuf
The Most Beautiful of Stories
Yusuf عليه السلام is the only Prophet whose entire life story is told in one continuous surah of the Quran — and Allah Himself called it the most beautiful of all stories. It is a story of betrayal, patience, temptation, imprisonment, and ultimately a triumph so complete that it could only have come from Allah.
As a child, he saw a dream: eleven stars, the sun, and the moon all prostrating before him. His own brothers threw him into a dark well out of jealousy. He was sold into slavery in Egypt, rose to honour in a great household, was falsely accused and imprisoned for years — all while never losing his faith or his character. Through every descent, Allah was preparing him for an ascent no one could have imagined.
After years in prison, his gift of interpreting dreams brought him before the King of Egypt, and he was made minister over the land's treasuries. When his brothers came before him years later — not recognising the brother they had betrayed — Yusuf عليه السلام chose forgiveness over revenge. His reunion with his father Yaqub عليه السلام, whose eyes had gone white from years of weeping, is one of the most moving moments in the entire Quran. His story teaches every believer that no matter how deep the well, Allah is already planning your elevation.
